Remodel Project Description:

This project was designed and constructed in such a way as to allow for the changing needs of an elderly couple who would like to live out their golden years in the comfort of their own home. At the time of the remodel, the husband was dealing with an non healing diabetic wound on his foot and could be forced into surgery to amputate the lower part of the leg. He was still walking at the time but may be required to be wheeled into the shower, if he should have the surgery. A shower stall was installed inside an existing half bathroom that could easily be adapted into a roll in shower if the situation presented itself.

• The existing half bathroom measured approximately 5’ x 6’ and was situated off of a guest bedroom that did not have a heating element associated with it.
• The toilet and sink was removed completely and an adaptable shower stall was installed in their place.

• The existing half bathroom measured approximately 5’ x 6’ and was situated off of a guest bedroom that did not have a heating element associated with it.
• A temporary threshold or lip was then installed and covered the retaining strip, which gives the appearance of a typical shower stall.
• A hardwired electric heater was also installed to heat the bathroom.

• A temporary threshold or lip now covers the retaining strip. This allowed our client to install glass doors on top of the temporary threshold and in turn creating a typical shower stall.
• The big advantage here is that if our client should ever be required to be wheeled into the shower, the glass doors and threshold are simply removed with minimal effort and for zero cost, he has a roll in shower just waiting for him.
• Our philosophy is that you do the job one time but allow it to adapt to your changing needs!
